450 Years Of Western European Art Has Landed At The Australian National Gallery

450 years of Western European art will call Australia’s National Gallery home for three months.

Not to be confused with The Met’s European Masterpieceswhich will be displayed at Brisbane’s QAGOMA, the National Gallery of Australia has landed its own phenomenal exhibition for 2021 giving Australians yet another reason for a bit of interstate travel. (Featured image: Thennicke)

The exhibition, titled From Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces From The National Gallery, London, is not only the largest collection of artworks from London’s National Gallery to ever leave the UK, but it is also possibly one of the most exciting.

Highlights of the exhibition include the likes of Rembrandt’s Self Portrait at the Age of 34, Vermeer’s A Young Woman Seated at a Virginaland Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, seen below.

Joining the masterworks by Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Vermeer will be another 57 artworks spanning seven distinct Western European art periods. Boticelli and Titian will represent the Italian Renaissance whereas Spanish art will be on show with the likes of Goya and Velazquez.
