Brisbane is just a stone’s throw from some of the most amazing waterfalls, swimming holes, caves – you name it. For adventure seekers, our little slice of paradise is certainly not lacking in things to do. It’s also a choice spot to catch a sunrise or sunset. So why not swap out golden hour in the city with golden hour overlooking the countryside? Main Range National Park is perfect for that, and it’s not too far from Gold Coast
Located 2hrs west of Gold Coast, Main Range is a popular spot for hiking, camping, and some of the magnificent sunrises and sunsets in the area. Catch the glow at Bare Rock, which can be found along a 6.8km return trail. The track leads you through lush rainforest as you traverse the western side of Mount Cordeaux. You can expect plenty of lookouts along the way to stop and gaze from.
After a short scramble to Bare Rock, you’ll be blessed with expansive views over the northern Ramparts and Darling Downs which looks its best at day’s end. We recommend bringing a little hiking-friendly picnic with you in your bag to enjoy a sunset with your hiking gang.
