There’s a European-styled winter market closer to home than you may think.
Visitors to Tamborine Mountain this June will find a Christkindlmarkt—a Euro-inspired winter market complete with mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and specially-curated stalls—where they will be able to immerse themselves in the festive spirit far from old European town squares and a full six months before Christmas. Taking over the mountain top village from June 18-20, the Evergreen Festival will be home to Market Lane, the festival’s main and free attraction, where visitors will be able to peruse market stalls adorned with Christmas decorations and ornaments selling edible treats as well as handmade crafts. There will also be stalls where the smell of roasted nuts and spiced wine will tempt you into taking a closer look. Market Lane, which will also feature lighting installations, will be open from 10am-8pm.
While the market will be great fun on its own, and well worth a visit, this year you will be able to step into the Scandi Village for an immersive dining experience. The pop-up venue will be decked out with Scandinavian-style furnishings—so think fur-draped chairs, candles and crystal glassware—and will be hosted by one of Australia’s premier culinary specialist teams, Wine & Dine’m Catering.
During the day, guests will be treated to a tasting platter of the region’s finest ingredients as well as two complimentary drinks—signature cocktail, beer or mulled wine—for $97.50 while evening guests will indulge in an exclusive three-course dining journey. The Hygee (pronounced Hoo-ga) will feature produce from the Scenic Rim region over a two-hour sitting that will also see guests served sommelier-selected beverages to complement their meal. Sittings are at 4pm and 7pm and will cost $165.00 per person. Booking for both feasting packages is essential.
The Evergreen Festival will also feature seven Art Taster Workshops by local artesans where attendees will be able to learn the alchemy of natural dyeing, create your own abstract artwork using alcohol inks and weave your own coiled basket to name but a few.
Evergreen Festival takes place on Tamborine Mountain from 18-20 June, 2021. Find out more here.
