With exceptionally talented musicians performing iconic songs as well as the fanciful feeling that hundreds of candles create when illuminating unique venues, Candlelight has struck a chord with audiences around the world. But this summer, it is leaving the big city lights behind in order to charm the Central Coast and Byron Bay by showcasing music in a new light.
Consistently voted as one of the most beautiful cinemas in the world, the Avoca Beach Theatre has a special place in the heart and history of the local community while the Byron Community Centre’s Byron Theatre has for 100 years been instrumental in establishing projects and services as well as hosting events for locals and visitors alike. However, this January the theatres will be ablaze with the light of hundreds of candles for the music of award-winning film composers.
Don’t miss out on Candlelight on tour this summer.
Candlelight Summer Tour
Audiences will be enveloped in flickering light and be treated to spectacular renditions of music from some of film’s greatest movies. From famed children’s movies like The Lion King and Madagascar to the superhero soundtracks of The Dark Knight, Man of Steel and Wonder Woman, the stirring sounds of a string quartet will fill the theatre.
Candlelight has wowed audiences across Australia and all over the globe. Now, it’s time for the Byron Theatre to represent Byron Bay and the Avoca Beach Theatre to represent the Central Coast when Candlelight turns up in town. Both locations see performances at 7:30pm and 9:30pm.
Byron’s award-winning 250-seat theatre, which has perfect sightlines throughout and incredible acoustic design, is located on Jonson Street and there are plenty of options to grab a feed and a drink before or after the performance, just like you would if you were going to the movies. At Avoca’s 500-seat cinema, which is still owned and run by the same family since its beginnings, guests can sit back on the outdoor terrace, grab a drink and look forward to the performance (or, talk about how phenomenal it was).
Please note that for the safety of the musicians and audience, flameless candles are used.
