It’s safe to say that the team behind Funlab is on a roll. And they’re showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. For the unversed, Funlab has brought some seriously exciting and infectious experiences to the Gold Coast, such as Holey Moley and Strike Bowling.
Noow, they’ve decided to raise the bar tenfold by bringing a brand new entertainment concept to Sydney, which is not only a first for the city and Australia, but also a world exclusive. Presenting the Hijinx Hotel, an immersive entertainment space comprising 15 challenge rooms, a faux hotel reception and a golf course.
As exciting as it all sounds, what exactly is a challenge room anyway? Basically it’s an escape room with a number of immersive elements including childhood games like Twister and the Floor is Lava. In a nostalgic callback to the 90s, Hijinx is all about vibrant experiences for kids and adults alike.
And they’re going the extra mile to make it a true blue curated experience. Each of the 15 eccentric and wild escape rooms are designed for a physical or mental challenge with each containing a delightful game for you to combat in just four minutes. At the Hijinx Hotel you’ll find themed rooms like Cereal Ball Room and the Titanic Room which promise to be as wacky as they sound.
And of course, what’s the point if it’s not Instagram worthy? Which it most certainly is. With super OTT interiors and three brilliant bars, it’s like you’re in a top tier hotel but one filled with childhood adventures. As for the design itself, they claim it’s a ‘mashup of The Grand Budapest Hotel and Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.’ Colour us VERY interested.
The Hijinx Hotel is set to open its doors on June 3 in Alexandria. And if this isn’t a reason to plan a Sydney trip for winter, we’re not sure what is.
It honestly all sounds wonderful and we can’t wait to experience it. Watch this space for updates and keep your eyes peeled on their official website for more.
